Hey, folks! Your beloved Goodbye, Buddy! decided to answer some of your most frequent questions and wonderings about who he is and what he does. Let’s see what you have been asking him.

Hey, Buddy, tell me, how exactly do you work?

Well, once you follow me on Twitter (@goodbyebuddy), I put you up on my watch list and start watching out for you. This means that I regularly look up your Twitter followers and inform you in case some of them left. The ones who did I then put on your very personal Unfollower Wall of Shame at http://www.goodbyebuddy.com. By logging into the website, you can access some stats, and see who unfollowed you and when, unfollow them back and even block or unblock them.

When do you start to check for unfollowers?

Don’t forget – I can only start checking for unfollowers once you have followed me. There’s no way I can gather earlier data from your Twitter profile. But I will certainly bust all of your future unfollowers, you can count on that!

How often do you generate unfollower stats?

I check your followers many times a day and save any changes I find in my secret notebook. Then I publish them once a day (for free accounts) or once every hour (for paid accounts) on http://www.goodbyebuddy.com. You won’t receive any notifications automatically just yet, so you need to log into the website whenever you want to see and get angry at your unfollowers.

Who are Super Buddy and Classic Buddy?

Classic Buddy was my little brother. He was the first one here to bust your unfollowers and was discontinued on September 1st 2010 because he couldn't support Twitter's OAuth. Super Buddy is my great big brother and my personal hero – he is available for subscription at http://www.goodbyebuddy.com/. Among his special features are hourly unfollower stats, DM notifications, higher limits for the unfollower profiles, no Google ads and more features to come!

Why do you need a “read and write” authorization for my Twitter account (OAuth)?

You see that I am doing more than just busting your unfollowers – I also let you check their profiles and even unfollow them or block them directly on my website. To do this, I need permission to overwrite the Followers/Following status on your Twitter profile. Of course, if you don’t unfollow or block someone, I just won’t change anything – as simple as that! I also need the write access to send you reliable DMs through your account - no unwanted public tweets or anything!

Then how about privacy – are you going to use my Twitter profile data without my permission?

Don’t worry, I’d never even think to do such a thing! Since I am using Twitter OAuth, I can’t and don’t save your password.

I miss the DMs – are you getting them back sometime soon?

Yeah, why not! A lot of people loved the DMs and you know I always try to keep my followers happy – so I'm working on it. There will be some fun changes around here, including the Big Comeback of the DM notifications :)

Let’s talk cash: do I need to pay in order to use Goodbye, Buddy?

Of course not! That would be nonsense, wouldn’t it? You can follow @goodbyebuddy and log into http://www.goodbyebuddy.com completely free of charge! Whoever told you something different was just plain lying. With Goodbye, Buddy! you can check who unfollowed you once every day without paying anything! Only Super Buddy charges you a subscription fee, but check out his special features and you’ll fall in love with him! I am working on some cool stuff for unpaid accounts too, so stay tuned!

How reliable are you really, Buddy?

Very! :) Believe me, I am taking my job very seriously. As opposed to other unfollower monitors, I am pretty instant – I check for unfollowers multiple times a day and never miss even one sleeky bastard. Of course, sometimes you won’t see exactly the number you expect because it just takes some time to get all those data, but never longer than 24 hours. And if you have a paid account, you can get new stats about your unfollowers once an hour – that’s 24 times a day! Pretty cool, eh?

Something’s not right: someone unfollowed me, but I still can’t see who!

The reason is that I can’t check for unfollowers just as frequently as you log into the website. You have to be patient and let me bust them before I bring them to the wall of shame. Multiple times a day I check your profile and save the latest changes into my secret notebook. If you have a paid account, I will list them for you within the next hour; if you have a free account, you’ll see all of them tomorrow at the latest.

I might even make you smile over the fact that someone unfollowed you – with my witty DMs. I work instantly, so it will never take days to see who unfollowed you.
